Estimating Your Alabama Income Tax Under Act 2003-116
You will need the following to make your estimate as accurate as possible:
  • A copy of your 2002 Alabama Income Tax Form
  • A copy of your 2002 Federal Income Tax Form
  • If you are a homeowner, the October 2002 assessed value of your homestead
  • If you own one or more automobiles, the most recent assessed value of each one (which is included on the receipt for your automobile registration)
Look at your Federal income tax form for 2002
Select the Federal Tax Form you used for 2002     
Choose the type of deductions you claimed  
Select your filing status on the 2002 Federal income tax form  
Enter the number of dependents you claimed on line 6c: Over 17      Under 17 
Check if you filed as 65 or older on Form 1040, line 37a or Form 1040A, line 23a:  

Now look at your Alabama income tax form for 2002
Select the Alabama Tax Form you used for 2002   
Select your filing status on the 2002 Alabama income tax form (look at lines 1-4)  
Enter the number of dependents you claimed on Form 40, part lll, Line b or Form 40A, part ll, Line b
Choose the type of deductions you claimed
