GOVERNOR’S COMMISSION ON EDUCATION SPENDING

1.  Executive Order Number 02.  This is the Executive Order by Governor Bob Riley that created the Commission.

 At the request of the Office of the Governor, Jim Williams, Executive Director of the Public Affairs Research Council of Alabama, chairs the Board of Technical Advisors that serves the Commission.  Other members of the Board of Technical Advisors include:

            Ira W. Harvey, Ph.D., Consultant

            Greg Butrus, Attorney, Balch & Bingham

            James F. Hughey, III, Attorney, Lightfoot, Franklin & White

            Wyndall A. Ivey, Attorney, Capell & Howard

            Abdul Kallon, Attorney, Bradley Arant Rose & White

            John Steiner, Attorney, Haskell Slaughter, Young & Rediker

The services of the staff attorneys have been donated to this public service by their respective firms.  Dr. Harvey and Jim Williams also are serving without cost to the Commission.

 

2.  The Purposes and Objectives of the Commission.  This presentation was given by Jim Williams to the Commission at its initial meeting.

3.  The History of Educational Appropriations in Alabama, 1992-2003.  This spreadsheet file was presented to the Commission at its initial meeting by Dr. Ira Harvey.

4.  Comparative Overview of K-12 Spending.  This presentation was given by Jim Williams at the initial meeting of the Committee on K-12 Spending.

5.  Comparative Overview of Alabama College System Spending.  This presentation was given by Jim Williams at the initial meeting of the Committee on Alabama College System Spending.

6.  Comparative Overview of University Spending.  This presentation was given by Jim Williams at the initial meeting of the Committee on University Spending.
